Here are four steps to help you learn how to stop reactive behavior and be proactive instead:
1. An obstacle occurs.
2. As you see yourself getting upset, you realize that your reaction, not the obstacle, is the real enemy.
3. You shut down your reactive system.
4. You reveal the mighty power of your proactive nature.
Angry reactions are the enemy, not the situation, events or people you encounter. Recognizing this, is what it means to be proactive. You’re being proactive because you’re open to look at things differently.
It is remarkable how effective this is. As soon as you open your mind, you begin getting insights and seeing aspects of the person/situation, you hadn’t seen before.
The Power Of Light
A darkened auditorium will respond to the light of one single candle regardless of how much darkness one adds. No amount of darkness can snuff out the light.
Most of the time we focus our attention only on external circumstances, this is what living in darkness means. We forget that light is our essence, Perfect Love within.
Next time you’re facing a challenging situation, follow the steps to stop your reactive behavior. Act from that place of peace and growth, and reveal the mighty power of your proactive nature.
“Resisting our reactive impulses creates lasting light within us”.
The way we react to events in our life, is OUR choice.
Besides, we alone, through our thinking, knowingly or unknowingly invited those situations and people into our lives to help us understand what we came here to learn. From this point of view, obstacles are great opportunities for strengthening the light within us.
